Decorating with ivy {Newbie party started}

Decorating with Ivy
One blog you do not come to for Garden inspiration is Debbiedoo's!
Now don't get me wrong, I can show you inspiring pictures, and on occasion have some pretty flowers of my own.
Oh, and I can share my Mom's gorgeous gardens as I have in the past
With that being said...I can grow me some IVY! This is a new discovery for me.
It started last Spring when I planted a few small Ivy plants in these urns.
{I am probably bragging over nothing right?} We can all grow IVY..but flatter me would ya!

Hard to believe it survived winter.  Grant you, we have had a mild one.

Yesterday I threw in some Viola's and we shall see how well they do.

I decided I would bring more Ivy into the home.  I love the pop of color, texture and warmth it brings.
I found the cutest bright yellow metal colander at Marshals the other day.
I knew I wanted to keep it out for my Spring/Summer decor...
but what to put in it?

Cute idea, don't you think?

It will get plenty of sunlight near our kitchen windows.
I added a little grass to the mix.
I am soooo ready for Spring in case you have not noticed.

Then while I was at it, I added another ivy plant to this silver ice bucket I bought at a garage sale for a buck or two last summer.

Never cleaned it, and I have no intentions of cleaning it either. I like it yucked up like this.

And this live Ivy is also near our entry way and gets plenty of morning sunlight.

We will have to readdress this post in around 6 months, so we can track the progress of the indoor ivy.

Let's get this party started!

MY GUIDELINES

*Blogging 6 months or less and or less than 100 followers.
*Would love for you to become a new friend of mine as well on google friend connect.
*PLEASE turn off Word verification, makes commenting very difficult, and you do not need it.
Blogger does a great job of deterring spam comments.
*PLEASE visit a few other participants, that is what you are here for!
*IF you find your link deleted, it is simply because you did not follow my simple guidelines.
*PLEASE add my link or button to your blog and/or post.
Please limit your links to two per newbie party.
thank you.
I would also like to mention, that we all should be watermarking our photo's.  Which basically means, add your name or blog name to each photo.  With pinterest on the rise in popularity, I see many pins out there with no name.
Do realize any party you link up to, gives people free reign to pin away, which is great, however, no name on the photo, no credit.  I always source out my features and I try only to feature ones with your names on them, that is for your benefit. Even though the pin may lead back to my original post, people would clearly see it was your work, with a link back to YOUR blog.

Oh, Debbie, the ivy looks fabby and I love the tarnished ice bucket. I got rid of most of my artificial plants a while ago and am trying to do more live plants, but alas, I, too, have never considered myself much of a green-thumb. Thanks so much for hosting this great party for us!

The ivy looks so cute in that strainer and ice bucket! Whenever I grow ivy indoors it lasts about 3 months and then the leaves fall off. Don't know what I am doing wrong.

Debbie,
I love your urns on the porch! The ivy is just perfect and your violas are the perfect pop of color. I too love ivy...although ah hemmm....I only use it in containers since my liberal use around our fish pond and in the landscaping got really out of hand! Thanks for sharing.

It is beautiful Debbie. Snip a few pieces of the ivy and place in water and when roots appear you will have more to put in another pot. I do it all the time. My outdoor ivy lasts through the even cold winters just fine and they are out in the garden uncovered. xoxo, olive

Good for you! These plants look great...and I especially love the colander and the ice bucket. I can grow ivy easily ~ everything else seems to come to my house to die. I have friends that are miracle workers with plants but I've never had that talent.

I'm ready for spring too! Had snow last night with rain following...it's very cold, too cold.

Hello Debbie, Thanks again for the great link party. I have to say that I love real plants but they do not love me. I do not have a green finger and can kill a plant within 2 weeks. But I have to say I have over the years managed to grow some beautiful lush ivy plants. I just love these hardy little bits of green, they can survive me, Maureen.
