English style tudor home tour

Happy Friday!
Welcome to an English style tudor home tour!
You sure will enjoy it.

I feel honored to be asked to showcase my home. Debbie
has asked me a
few times to be her guest. I said I would but kept putting her off. It seems
every time we finish one room it gets trashed while working on the next room. My living room is now filled with
kitchenware due to the kitchen
renovation.  After seeing
the new homes all up to date I had a fear of posting.  We have many more
rooms to complete.

************************************************************

~ Welcome ~

Our home is over 100 years old, not at all unusual for my
area.  It was built to last with thick plaster walls, hand cut beams
and slate for the roof.  We have large rooms with low ceilings
and drafty windows made of iron that open out.  Our wood floors
have patina overtime. Everyone comments on how beautiful they are. The
front
of our home is made from thick granite stones. The front door and
library door reminds me of
those heavy castle doors.
I've added a
few modern touches here and there. We love our home and hope you enjoy your
visit.

Antique ~ English Tudor

Weeping cherry tree in full bloom.

Come on in and take the tour.

The walls and ceiling are painted linen white. The flash washed out the color.

I stenciled the walls a few years ago.

Our Living Room

 Night photo.

The fireplace wall had paneling on it. I plastered over it with Ready Patch Spackling. We also replace the fireplace mantel and radiators covers.

Dining Room

Our sunroom is right off our dining room.

Sunroom - Family Room

Here I added a modern twist by painting the wicker chocolate brown and adding a seagrass rug.

The chocolate brown curtains also give a modern feel to the antique style wicker.

Kitchen - Pantry

This area was update including the chandelier.

I keep all my glassware here.

I bought two of these chandeliers.  The other one is now in my foyer.

Looking into the dining room from the kitchen.

Kitchen

The kitchen is being updated with a tin ceiling.

 Library - Office

 My husband's office.

Master Bedroom

In our master bedroom I used modern prints above the bed. I also used modern pillows.  The furniture is all antiques.

The chandelier matches the wall sconces.

Children's Rooms

The giraffe painting was mine when I was a child.  An artist painted it for me by the name of Harry Devlin (1918 - 2001)

My older boys love red and blue.

 Our Backyard

The patio is one of our favorite places to entertain.

Our yard is a nice retreat with plenty of trees for shade.

My children spend more time in the hammock than we do.

We added the fence, wood planter box and the antique bricks and stepping stones.

Thanks so much for having me Debbie. I hope you enjoyed the tour.

xo,
Dee

A Lapin Life

Thank you Dee, for having us over. Your home is just beautiful!

A dining room that seats 10 without opening up the table, now that is what I need! I wonder how many it can seat if there are more leaves? When I open mine a couple people are not really sitting in the dining room any longer. Also wonder if Dee would come and stain my beams.
