Not your typical Christmas present! {vintage, rustic home decor} NEWBIE party started!

Decorating with vintage, rustic, antique decor
This my friends is not your typical Christmas present one would expect from their husbands.
Some girls love diamonds, some love perfume! Me, yes, I love those things too, however, give  me something old, something different, more of a conversation piece, and that  is really the perfect gift for me.
Of course anything rooster works too, just in case your wondering.
You know I love things of sentiment as well.

Family treasures are the best gifts of all, from the heart, with meaning and a real history and story to be told.
I will be sharing soon a very lovely gift my father- in- law gave me as well, that I love, however, I have to be dressed purty to show you that one.
This brings me to Mike's  very unique gift to me.

Very old, very rustic, and indeed very unique.
The funny thing about this, is that I saw this piece when I was out antiquing with my blogging friends, Cindy and Carrie

I stopped dead in my tracks, said "WOW this is cool", but I have no place at all to put it and Mike would kill me if I come home with it.

It wasn't that cheap let's  just say that...it wasn't that expensive either, but it was not the typical good will price, and score I would normally make.
I am frugal like that.
All I can say is, Mike and I are so on the same page sometimes it is scary!
However, it is a good thing, we both like strange and unique stuff.

I am sure you are thinking, why on earth do you like this old, typo's all over, church bulletin?

I don't know, I just do!

But no worries, my husband did add in a little bling too...

In fact this too is made from old keys and bolts...

Pretty cool necklace!

Oh and if you are wondering where we found a place to hang the new bulletin...

We found the perfect spot!

Merry Christmas to all!

Let's get this Newbie party started.

Vintage Sentimental Christmas tree!

I wanted our tree to hold sentiment this year.
I decided I would look for some old Vintage Christmas post cards, and incorporate those along with some old vintage ornaments, mixed with a few modern and hand made ones.  Let's just say it is eclectic for sure!

I also bought a new tree this year, pre-lit and with flocked in snow.

I love it!

I found a few vintage post cards locally.

Then in Savannah, I found some too...

HOWEVER, I lost them, or left them in the hotel:(

I wanted to include my Grandfather this Christmas...

and of course myself, after my Grandfather dressed me up...
I actually remember these days.

My Grandfather would sing the song, one little, two little three, little Indians, and I would spin around and giggle my head off...what fond memories.

Then I made a few vintage post cards myself using the Graphics fairy website.

Looking above from the family room...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
I have two parties tomorrow..and I must get my Christmas shopping DONE!
Please tell me I am not alone with feeling like there is NOT enough time in the day anymore.
whew...looking forward to the New year for sure!

Thinking "outside the box" and NEWBIE party started early!

So I told you the other day I was thrifting at our local humane society.  I love that place and they do such a wonderful job of caring for all those unwanted or stray pets that need new homes.  I can tell you there is an overload of kitty cats! A lot do find homes and even if they don't they have a pretty good life there.  People come and walk the dogs and play with the cats on a daily basis.
Anyhow, I spied this BOX for 6.00.  It was old and I could tell by the somewhat old funky smell.  You know that smell I am speaking of, not so pleasant. Well anyhow for 6.00 and some good cleaner I figured I could do something with it.
The lady at the register said "Finally someone is buying that box"!
I also scored some old camera's for 5.00 a piece, and some travel decals too!
So my mind went a spinning, and this is what I came up with...
I was going to paint it, but honestly, I like it as is. It matches our old  door above the bed in the masterbedroom

So I decided to make a photo box, added some old Pics of dear ole Gramps, the old cameras and a family vacation album.  Oh lets not forget some negatives.
I do not do many of these albums anymore since everything is on computer.  But I think I will this summer. Nothing like thumbing through a photo album.

So let's get this newbie party started!
GUIDELINES:
Blogging six months or less/and/or less than 100 followers.
If you are not a friend of mine, I would love if you became one.

I try to visit each link and comment.  I don't always make the commenting, for several reasons.
Word verification trips me up big time.  I do not have time to retype nonsense two and three times, so I leave. I have a feeling a lot of gals do.  So consider getting rid of it.
Remember this party is for you to make new friends. So please do not link and leave and expect the world to come flocking.  That is not how blogging works.  Comment, comment, comment.  You will be surprised what you get back.  I love when I see my old friends who can't be a part of the party participating.  Thank you for the support.
Have fun!
XO
I am starting the newbie party early and ending it earlier than normal.
It will be over Tuesday evening by 11:00 pm.  Because the pet partay will be starting on Wednesday...
get those pets ready  for their big day!

PLEASE add my link or button to your post. I just am deleting them if you are not linked up correctly. If you are new check out my tutorial under my header, you will learn a lot!

Bedroom makeover!

I will be sharing this fun project with Kristin's painters tarps summer blog party edition.
Debbiedoo's has her summer paint project edition
HERE
Never have I had so much fun transforming a room as I have now.
I am not sure if it was all my Gramps positive energy floating around,
or that I just truly have fun decorating.
I know for sure it is BOTH!~
Let's start with the curtains.  Painters tarps, painted and stenciled.  I will give a tutorial soon.
Mike thought I was crazy...this is his old red wagon, that has been sitting in our garage for years...what a perfect time to dig it out.It is about 40 years old.  And it is serving a purpose...LEGOS!

Now this was fun.  Once a pine toy chest turned FUNKAY! I bought the trespassing sign and just sanded the heck crap out of it, I wish things could rust overnight, but they can't to my knowledge.
Tutorial on the chest coming soon.

And yes  some rust too!

And here was Jack when he came home from school today...He is inspecting that everything is there that should be.
I forgot to show you a few other things...

These are my Granfathers gloves from when he was a child..I think this must have been an ashtray, it's missing the center piece.
Oh and here is Jack's before bedroom:

THINGS I did for this room makeover:
The bedside light
The burlap curtains
The chest
Brought in the wagon, that was my husbands when he was Jack's age.
Brought out old time memories and keepsakes of my Dear Grandfather
