I is for IcEcReAm!~
It's that time of year when Ice Cream lovers come out around America.
People stand in long lines for their favorite flavor ( I have been one of them).......Alphabet Thursday hosted by Jenny Matlock http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com.Go check so more fun I's out!!~
Nothing thrills me more than watching a little kid eating an ice cream cone. I still love ice cream, however, it does not like my waistline too much...but that does not stop me, it is worth every lick. Going back in time, when I was a young child, the Mister Softee truck would come down the street a little after dinner. Sometimes before dinner, and that was never good, because I was not getting any. There where times I would hear Mr. Softee streets away.....my Gramps would actually throw me in the car and chase him down just so I could get an ice cream. My Gramps loved his ice cream too, not sure if he was really doing that for me, or for himself...but regardless those are times I will always cherish and love.
This was the good ole truck playing the music and kids flocking from everywhere to get his yummy cones!
I would get this one, with sprinkles on top!
And Gramps would get this one, and eat it before we got home so Gram would not yell at him.......
This is our local ice cream shoppe. They feature new flavors every week. We love monkey madness, it is packed with marshmellows, chocolate malt balls, and banana flavored ice cream.....
The lines are pretty long come summer time, but we wait, and I just stare at little kids eating their icecream(I know it is not polite, and that is what we teach out kids not to do...however these little peeps don't know I am staring, I just can't help it, they are too cute!.
So tell me what is your favorite flavor?

Mine is chocolate turtle at Bruister's. I love it.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to Cold Stone Creamery! It's my favorite place to get ice cream. While I was pregnant, I always had a craving for their cake batter ice cream. YUM!
Ice cream is my favorite sweet. Its my vice. I can still remember the sound of the dingling music coming from the ice cream truck. It was really neat to get ice cream out on the street. Now for me, it's chocolate marshmallow. MMMMMM
Mayfield Moosetracks. Yum! Or a brownie fudge sundae made with a homemade brownie right out of the oven with french vanilla icecream & dove fudge on top! I think I just gained 5 pounds thinking of it!
Awwww- for the story of you and Gramps- loved that! Made me even tear up a bit.
I ADORE all these stories you guys come up with with your grandparents in them. I've had the pleasure of spending time with only my maternal Grandfather and he will always remain my special memory. I fact, i'll never forget that the first picture i ever took in my life was of him from his camera in third grade. The film probably got exposed and the snap is slightly dark pink now(!) but i love it.
I digress. My favorite ice-cream- dark chocolate, i think. (I eat it weirdly. I melt the whole thing and eat with the spoon- aah! so much for ice cream and not milkshake instead!)
Great photos, Debbie@ I like coffee with nuts.....Christine
Golly, this post brings back memories. I couldn't wait for the ice cream truck to come around. Getting ice cream floats at the local pharmacy was such a treat...sigh...the good old days!
My absolute favorite flavor is coconut!
Your local ice cream place sounds fun! I like any of the sorbet ice creams...so can we call them ice cream? Joni
Bluebell Southern Blackberry Cobbler or Peaches and Homemade Vanilla. Yum! Love your story about grandpa eating his before you got home - too cute! We still have an ice cream truck that comes around the neighborhood. But it creeps me out because it has a clown on top of it :) Kathy
I love ice cream as well! We have a local place called Mr. T's and my absolute favorite is Mocha Almond Fudge and I am not even that crazy about chocolate! It is incredible and if they do not have it, I don't get any at all! But I am really strange, it's too soft when I get it so I bring it home and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours, then I eat it!
HOW FUN! I did an Ice Cream post also! I went the store bought brand way. My fav is Blue Bell. I love Brusters! YUM!
I wish we would have that kind of ice cream truck. Ours was just ice cream sandwiches, popsicles and stuff like that. I like a combination of chocolate and vanilla.
I get this chocolate and vanilla malt from Schwan's it is excellent.
We go to a little old time Dairy Freeze- they make their own- and I love the Raspberry Custard...so good... they close for winter so I still have to wait awhile to enjoy it!
That's such a nice story about your time with your Grandfather and Mr. Softee.
My favorite flavor is Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia.
Ice cream at bruisters is my favorite. too bad the bruisters outlet we have here got close last Fall.
MMmMM, yummy!
My favorite flavor would be cookie dough anything!
Do you have a Cherry on Top around you? That is the greatest ice cream shop!
What ironic timing.... I passed an ice cream truck today and thought, "wow, is it that time already?!?!" haha, love it.
PS. My favorite is Cherry Chocolate Chip.
Dang, I thought Mister Softee ONLY came down Magnolia Drive in Augusta, Georgia! Loved that ice cream. Nowdays, I try to eat just the mint chocolate from Weight Watchers...it takes care of my ice cream craving:)
I love icecream as well,I have a small bowl just about every night! The weather has been really nice and we live with a elementary school around the corner, so Mr.Softee has been out and about!! I have to say I loved hearing the chimes in the truck! Last year around Sept. I have to admit it got a little annoying, but yesterday it was a pleasure!!
Cold Stone Creamery Founder's Favorite is my absolute- blow my diet -yummy delish favorite! For an everyday ice cream, I am a total mint chocolate chip girl!!
I remember hearing the bell and getting my change together for a treat. What special summer memories. Your post is a little bit of torture for this displaced American. No Bruisters here. my favorite flavors are mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough.
I was hoping someone would do ICECREAM Debbie, and you did it so well! My favorite thing anytime...
Great story and pictures.
My favorite? VANILLA! cause you can make it whatever you want it to be...or not!
YUMMY POST!
Ooooh yummy ice cream... it is soooo hot here lately... it's time for some ice cream!
OMG..that monkey madness sounds deadly...yup, your gramps was definitely chasing the truck for the both of you...my mother and I love to go for ice cream at any chance we can get-just the two of us- She loves the pumpkin ice cream at Letchworth craft show in October...yes, we eat ice cream outside in October...in western NY..those are special times that I will always remember.
Ice cream is one of the four major food groups. What? What do you mean it isn't? Seriously?
Anything with chocolate in it is my favorite.
Our local ice cream truck plays Christmas music. I love to hear it played that way in the middle of summer!
My favorite flavor is strawberry! We have ice cream trucks on our street during the summer, and the kids love to flag it down.
Great post, Debbie, and the photos are delicious, too!
For a while, I told my kids the ice cream truck was just a music-playing truck, but then they got wise.
"It's that time of year when Ice Cream lovers come out around America." <-- Actually, this would mean ANYTIME, where I live (Wisconsin). LOL! If the Chocolate House or the Dairy Queen's closed due to blizzard conditions, we're sunk! Yep, They have it all wrong when They said, "There's always room for Jello." It should definitely go: "There's always room for ice cream, and we don't mean maybe, baby!" LOL!
(Ice cream: the perfect "I"-- great choice)
WOW.. I love many favors.. many.
Here from Jingle!
Welcome to the Rally!
Happy Thursday!

UNSPOKEN BREAKFAST FOR THE SOUL
My Grandmother used to work at a laundry and two doors down was an ice cream store. We would walk to see her and she would give us money to go get her a sundae and something for ourselves. On payday she would bring home a bag of Lollapallouzers. She live with us. I'm sure I spelled that wrong. Ice cream on a stick covered in sprinkles. My favorite ice cream pistachio almond.
I gotta go where Mrs.C goes, that Mocha almond fudge sounds right up my alley! I can't narrow it down to one, but for all intents and purposes, I'll take vanilla. It's classicly tasty. But if I am at the store, give me Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. If I am somewhere that has frozen vanilla custard, sign me up for that please! Oh, and you can never beat a good strawberry(which Breyer's has a great one). Did someone say ICECREAM???
LOL I love the picture of the kids wearing the ice cream! LOL
Now I want some pralines and cream and it's 8:30AM!!!

Today on my blog I have a Guest post from the Christian Film Makers group. I would love for all my Christian friends to check it out. They are doing an Easter event.

Aw, Mr. Softee! What great memories! Funny the things you forget about, but when someone reminds you...
Rob and I love to go to Rita's. Usually I'll get a custard or gelati - it's so much fun to people watch there!
I literally cannot come up with a favorite flavor. It's impossible.
I love to remember the ice cream trucks...nice post...thanks
I scream, U scream, we all scream for Ice cream.
My Mom used to say that all the time.
Please don't be I ndignant but I don't like I ce cream.
Unless it is vanilla, melting slowly all over a warm sour cherry pie.
A+
It's only fairly recently that we got lots of flavours here in the UK. I remember going to the US 30 years ago and being amazed at the choice. If you have time to pop by here is My I
I love ice cream too! And I love making homemade ice cream in the summer.
But, if I'm buying a cone somewhere, my favorite is Rocky Road!
i just cant pick a fave ... but my current go to flavour is mango!
i used to love blue bubble gum but now i love the choc chunk cookie dough :D
Love the story about your Gramps! When I was growing up I used to spend the summers with my family in CT and on Saturday evenings Grandmama would take me (and my cousins if they happened to be over) to the Dairy Queen. Grandmama loved her ice cream! I used to love those DQ trips with her.
As for my favorite flavors, I would have to say something very chocolatey, mocha, almond or dulce de leche.
Hmmm. I think I will take the kids out for ice cream tonight! My pregnant DIL has been on an ice cream kick lately and there is a place near us that makes their own ice cream.
Geez, thanks Debbie!

I adore with raisons and rum...............
Pralines & Cream is my favorite but I will not turn down other flavors. I love ice cream.
When I lived in Anchorage the local ice cream parlor was a favorite late night winter time destination for my friends and I. Funny thing was the place was always busy, even when it was twenty below outside.
I love a big banana split with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate--in that order. One time I tried with some other (I don't exactly remember) flavours and I didn't enjoy it so much.
Sometimes I eat ice cream when it's cold outside. Some people ask me why I'm eating someting cold if the weather it's so bad. Well, because I eat it inside.
Have you noticed that when it's cold ouside people inside drink hot cocoa or soup (Yes, I do it too)... Why not an ice cream??? Must be because I love it soooo much!! :-)
I'm a plain vanilla girl, but they taste good no matter the flavor
Hi Begoluna! Welcome home from your trip. Nice to hear from you again. I just finished a nice bowl of neopolitan...with a little chocolate syrup on top. Hey if I am going to do it , do it right!
My favorite is strawberry icecream.
Yummy I word!!Thank you for sharing yummy photos!!
do you know how much i love mr softie? seriously..i am obsessed with their rainbow sprinkles...thin and crunchy...nothing like what we can buy in the stores. when i was a kid, i tried to convince my mother that ice cream was a health food and should be eaten every day because of its high amounts of calcium. sadly, she wasn't convinced!
I adore ice cream.....I love black licorice......yummmmmmmm and the way it turns your mouth that icky black/ green color? I dont even care.....
That monkey madness sounds awesome. I don't think I have a favorite ice cream, but I do quite like pralines and caramel.
...running a wee bit late... I love your "I"cecream post! Yumm!!!
I was torn between writing my assignment for Icecream or Irish...
Ah!!! Icecream...lovely memories with your gramps! haha I had an aunt who insisted that some icecream was a necessity after dinner to "settle" our tummies!
Blessings & Aloha!
