I is for IcEcReAm!~

It's that time of year when Ice Cream lovers come out around America.
People stand in long lines for their favorite flavor ( I have been one of them).......Alphabet Thursday hosted by Jenny Matlock http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com.Go check so more fun I's out!!~
Nothing thrills me more than watching a little kid eating an ice cream cone.  I still love ice cream, however, it does not like my waistline too much...but that does not stop me, it is worth every lick.  Going back in time, when I was a young child, the Mister Softee truck would come down the street a little after dinner.  Sometimes before dinner, and that was never good, because I was not getting any.  There where times I would hear Mr. Softee streets away.....my Gramps would actually throw me in the car and chase him down just so I could get an ice creamMy Gramps loved his ice  cream too, not sure if he was really doing that for me, or for himself...but regardless those are times I will always cherish and love.
http://www.redfieldplace.com/memories/mr_softee.jpg
This was the good ole truck playing the music and kids flocking from everywhere to get his yummy cones!
http://www.faqs.org/photo-dict/photofiles/list/597/993icecream_cone.jpgI would get this one, with sprinkles on top!
And Gramps would get this one, and eat it before we got home so Gram would not yell at him.......
http://www.unc.edu/~vanvleck/GoldenGateBananaSplit.jpg
This is our local ice cream shoppe.  They feature new flavors every week.  We love monkey madness, it is packed with marshmellows, chocolate malt balls, and banana flavored ice cream.....
http://www.wmdavis.com/images/BrustersIceCream_big.jpg
The lines are pretty long come summer time, but we wait, and I just stare at little kids eating their icecream(I know it is not polite, and that is what we teach out kids not to do...however these little peeps don't know I am staring, I just can't help it, they are too cute!.

Ice cream is my favorite sweet. Its my vice. I can still remember the sound of the dingling music coming from the ice cream truck. It was really neat to get ice cream out on the street. Now for me, it's chocolate marshmallow. MMMMMM

Awwww- for the story of you and Gramps- loved that! Made me even tear up a bit.

I ADORE all these stories you guys come up with with your grandparents in them. I've had the pleasure of spending time with only my maternal Grandfather and he will always remain my special memory. I fact, i'll never forget that the first picture i ever took in my life was of him from his camera in third grade. The film probably got exposed and the snap is slightly dark pink now(!) but i love it.

I digress. My favorite ice-cream- dark chocolate, i think. (I eat it weirdly. I melt the whole thing and eat with the spoon- aah! so much for ice cream and not milkshake instead!)

Golly, this post brings back memories. I couldn't wait for the ice cream truck to come around. Getting ice cream floats at the local pharmacy was such a treat...sigh...the good old days!

My absolute favorite flavor is coconut!

I love ice cream as well! We have a local place called Mr. T's and my absolute favorite is Mocha Almond Fudge and I am not even that crazy about chocolate! It is incredible and if they do not have it, I don't get any at all! But I am really strange, it's too soft when I get it so I bring it home and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours, then I eat it!

Ice cream is one of the four major food groups. What? What do you mean it isn't? Seriously?

Anything with chocolate in it is my favorite.

Our local ice cream truck plays Christmas music. I love to hear it played that way in the middle of summer!

"It's that time of year when Ice Cream lovers come out around America." <-- Actually, this would mean ANYTIME, where I live (Wisconsin). LOL! If the Chocolate House or the Dairy Queen's closed due to blizzard conditions, we're sunk! Yep, They have it all wrong when They said, "There's always room for Jello." It should definitely go: "There's always room for ice cream, and we don't mean maybe, baby!" LOL!

(Ice cream: the perfect "I"-- great choice)

My Grandmother used to work at a laundry and two doors down was an ice cream store. We would walk to see her and she would give us money to go get her a sundae and something for ourselves. On payday she would bring home a bag of Lollapallouzers. She live with us. I'm sure I spelled that wrong. Ice cream on a stick covered in sprinkles. My favorite ice cream pistachio almond.

I gotta go where Mrs.C goes, that Mocha almond fudge sounds right up my alley! I can't narrow it down to one, but for all intents and purposes, I'll take vanilla. It's classicly tasty. But if I am at the store, give me Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. If I am somewhere that has frozen vanilla custard, sign me up for that please! Oh, and you can never beat a good strawberry(which Breyer's has a great one). Did someone say ICECREAM???

Rob and I love to go to Rita's. Usually I'll get a custard or gelati - it's so much fun to people watch there!

I literally cannot come up with a favorite flavor. It's impossible.

Love the story about your Gramps! When I was growing up I used to spend the summers with my family in CT and on Saturday evenings Grandmama would take me (and my cousins if they happened to be over) to the Dairy Queen. Grandmama loved her ice cream! I used to love those DQ trips with her.

As for my favorite flavors, I would have to say something very chocolatey, mocha, almond or dulce de leche.

Hmmm. I think I will take the kids out for ice cream tonight! My pregnant DIL has been on an ice cream kick lately and there is a place near us that makes their own ice cream.

Geez, thanks Debbie!

I love a big banana split with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate--in that order. One time I tried with some other (I don't exactly remember) flavours and I didn't enjoy it so much.

Sometimes I eat ice cream when it's cold outside. Some people ask me why I'm eating someting cold if the weather it's so bad. Well, because I eat it inside.

Have you noticed that when it's cold ouside people inside drink hot cocoa or soup (Yes, I do it too)... Why not an ice cream??? Must be because I love it soooo much!! :-)
