Entertainment center makeover final reveal!

I certainly hope I did not make you wait too long for this SIMPLE entertainment center makeover.  I had to show you the gallery wall first before I could go on this side.
We opted not to paint the unit. So many great suggestions, however, it just was not the right thing to do.
I do not have to paint every piece of wood we own.
It was actually this comment from Kelly from the Essence of home that made the light bulb go off for me.
" You've got alot of color going on in there with your rug and your room being open to your kitchen, so I would be careful about introducing another "color" to your furniture unless it clearly ties in with the room"
Kelly did recommend a color choice as well, but we OPTED no major paint job here.

{BEFORE}
However, I did do some small tweaks here and there.

Mike found the old 1800's sash pulls at an antique shop.  He knew they would compliment the gallery wall and tie in with our old vintage decor.
and the medallions, that were a plain wood color I painted black. I purchased those at Lowes for $6.97 for a twin pack.

Mike and I both decided that adding a touch of black would tie in nicely with the coffee table and some other small pieces we had.  I also changed up the top decor and added some old books, seltzer bottle and an Old German beer crate.

This tin urn I have had for many many years along with the faux silk flowers.  I bought both at Z-gallerie at least 10 years ago.

On both sides of the unit Mike had these speaker covers that were black, however he only use to have it on one side.  I asked him to put the other side insert in, and that would balance it.
I also added the black appliques as you can see..just for a decorative touch.

We think just those small changes made an updated difference.

Now you see how this wall makes a little more sense as well, next to the unit.

This pic was taken early in the morning when the sun was just coming up.

I was playing on the Sherwin Williams website and these are the color schemes they came up with for our room

I would say I have all bases covered now.
Have a wonderful day!
And thank you for popping over and your very sweet comments.
XO

I love how it turned out! Your subtle changes were really all you needed. Thanks so much for the shout-out. Glad that I was able to give you advice you could use. I actually did do a painted furniture project of my own and plan to share it tomorrow. Ha! It's neutral though and ties in with the rest of the house (so I'm using my own advice). I really like that sign above your entertainment center too, btw.

I too, thought I would see a new paint color... but it is FAB!! We don't always have to paint do we? : )
Love the throw on the couch...just the right pop.
BUT I just can not get over how big that room looks with such high ceilings... totally jealous of that.
(& Mike has a great eye for detail : )

I noticed the time you posted and that then explained the early morning picture. I wasn't up for three more hours. Hugs, Ginger
