New way to plant your garden seeds.. Exciting!

Spring is in the air. It's time to start planting those seeds right?
Did my title catch your eye?
Hope so, but sorry to tell you, you are not going to find out how to plant your garden seeds here.
Well, well, I don't plant any garden seeds.
Do you?
I did however, love these garden veggie, flower  packet seeds
I spied at the dollar tree the other day for 25 cents a piece.
The colors just looked so happy on the package.

I thought, hmmm...while I am waiting patiently for our yard to start greening up, how about some color in the kitchen window.

I placed some Spring foam stickers over the price tag, I thought if I left the price tag exposed it would look kind of tacky.
And I am full of tack you KNOW!

I stuck a little pack in the ivy too.

How is that for $1.75 window pick me up?
Starting to look like Spring around here!

All I did was hot glue a strand of twine.  I already had small nails on each side of my window sill from back at Christmas time when I did the holiday copy cat challenge.
No biggie to remove the nails and calk it up.

I have been working on my teenagers room all day today. What a job...YIKES,the things we find under the bed!
I think he is going to be pretty happy though when he comes home from school today.
This job was prompted by his request.  He felt he had  a little kiddish room.
Sneak peek for ya!

She is so cute...and very creative indeed.

Then my friend Sheila from Note songs...well she claims to be a copy cat, or at least admits it.  I think she puts her very own creative spin on it. Check out her very creative wreath

Orange you glad you came?

Ok I am starting to get crazy over here with colors.  What I realized the other day, and for those of you who contemplate using yellow on your walls.  I am here to tell you GO FOR it! Every accessory I put in my kitchen has seemed to go.  At least in my eyes which well maybe that is not such a good thing....but truly I think it does.  On my ventures last week of garage salen' I came across a few things that I was not sure what I would do with them, but bought them anyhow because they where so cheap.  In the meantime, I was making some pretty orange burlap pillows. I do not sew and I can tell you stitch witch is my friend.  So easy to make a pillow it was ridiculous.  Loved the orange color, and burlap is cheap too, 2.99 a yard and if you have a coupon you can get it really cheap.  I knew I had to put something on the pillows but had no clue what I wanted.  That was until I saw these textured like doilies...I guess they are....there where a whole bunch for 1.00...loved the colors so I grabbed them.  When I came home that is when I realized what I would do with them.  I also have made a new table runner, which was also a no sew, no brainer project for me.  I say this because all you girls who say I can't do that, or I stink...no you don't! If I can do it, anyone can.  I am no rocket scientist believe me! I decided I would set the table fun today.  So funny too, if you have kids you really have to see this you tube video...my son Jack just happened to be watching it when I was setting the table...we have good energy like that...it was hilarious! So let me start with the pillows I made.
I really do not know what those doilies are, they are a thicker texture as you can see..those are two I layered on

Look how nice and neat I sewed NOT! As I mentioned before stitch witch....
Here is my big 1.00 garage sale purchase, I spruced it up with color.  The votives where amber which that is what I loved about it.

My home made table runner, love funk and whimsy pattern

This was the kitchen last week, which I love and of course will go back to....I just want to show you how just about every color I add with the warm yellow walls, works...or at least I think so.  I am loving the orange this week. We shall see what next week or two brings.
There you be....orange you glad you came? If you have kids, or just want a laugh, go check out this you tube video...annoying orange...my son Jack was belly laughing over this. Have a great weekend everyone.  I will be putting up my Mr. Linky every Saturday morning and it will be up until Monday night.  Have fun, and I can't wait to see some more fun finds.!

I will be linking up with a few parties myself this week. Thank you to all  of you lovely ladies for hosting, I appreciate it and love all your feedback and your comments.  Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget about my linky party coming up this Saturday and every Saturday here on in. PARTY going on now, go check it out, my recent post!

Home Tour

This is a home tour post from 2010. There have been a few decor changes since.
 And here is our story.....
We never stepped foot in our home until the day we closed on it.  We had only looked through the windows, and saw the interior home layout on paper.  I knew from the minute I stepped on the front porch, this was HOME.   Although a new built home, there where things we have done to make it unique to our style and what we love.  You will see our style is somewhat unique. We have spent years acquiring just the right pieces, for just the right places.   We entertain often and  have out of town house guests often.  I enjoy nothing more than staying home and enjoying quality time, and creating a warm loving environment for my boys to treasure for years to come.

Welcome.......
When you enter our home the first room you see is our family room.  We love old World style, I would say with a modern twist.  I love it when you do not know what is old and what is new.  Our pieces have meaning and lots of history.  We have enjoyed our hobby together of antiquing and thrifting.
I decided I would bake you some cookies, and have proudly displayed them on my home made tier platter: Idea inspired by:http://www.thetidynest.com, and also the veggie candle inspired by:http://www.recapturedcharm.com.  Both awesome blogs I would suggest checking out!~
Our kitchen is always undergoing accessory changes.  This season I have incorporated Blues and yellows.  Every room of our home has the same color schemes, however reversed.  I am always borrowing from one room to the other and switching things up for a new look....

I just added a little copper to the kitchen as well.  I have no problem mixing brushed silver and copper, golds, blacks....If I like it I say it works....there is my little home made wine cork trivet, you may view the tutorial here......
There is a little snippet of my modge podge project behind the sink you may also view the tutorial here.......
From the kitchen it is open to our family room, and this is where most of our square footage is in our home.  Some think our home is much bigger than it is because of the heigth of the 22 foot ceilings, however it is not as large as it appears, but just enough for me to take care of! This is the view from the kitchen island
Now onto our Master bedroom.  This is the most colorful room in the house.  I love the vibrant fun atmosphere, after all aren't we suppose to have fun in there too?? LOL....I have used a warm color pallet throughout our home.  Restoration hardware colors using Benjamin moore paint.  The kitchen and family room are Butter, and our bedroom is cappuccino
These colors just make me smile.....I have used the Better Home and Gardens collection this year purchased  at  Walmart.  The price is right and the quality is unbeatable.  Because I accessory  change seasonally so often in our home, I do everything on a budget.  This summer bedroom redo was around $200.00, which included bedding, sheets, pillows and window treatments.  The window treatments where purchased at pottery barn half price....they where 35.00 a panel and fully lined and great quality as well.
These candle urns I already had from last year, also Better home and Gardens collection.  I used them outside last year,  and thought this year they would go great in our bedroom.  The fun, colorful plates I also had for years and purchased those at Z-gallerie.
The candle hanging over the bench was purchased at Lowes Garden center last year for $30.00.....I love it!
Fall ambiance

Recent Spring guest room revamp. Painted the furniture Robin eggs blue (chalk paint). I made the art work over the bed.

THe bedding pillows are Cynthia Rowley found at TJ Maxx.
Hope to see you back again. If you are new to blogging, I host  a newbie linky party every Monday. Great way to meet new bloggie friends like yourself.
And here is a our new Master bedroom complete!
Linking this post again to
Thanks Andy!

WhiMsy in the Garden.... and All OUr Hard work

This was last years rustic garden As you can see we live in a heavily wooded area.  It is constant work and forever a mess.  There is nothing pristine and clean about this area.  We do love it though and enjoy sitting out by the fire, doing smore's and just kicking back. This year I decided to bring a little more color and fun to the gardens and front of our home....so kick back and enjoy your outdoor tour and all the changes I made this year......
My husband made this bench for me a few years back. I painted my chairs this fun whimsy blue

This blue really is pretty, and I went a little hay wire as you can see coming up next

I also painted these chairs, they where Oak, and I painted and distressed them black

I recently made this cute whimsical wreath too, I actually saw one similar made here in blog land, I apologize for forgetting who, but if she sees it please let me know, so I may add her link I like to give credit where credit is due

My new Birthday present from my husband, I love it, he is so good!~ All my colors!

You pretty much know from the outside, how I decorate, as I bring the same theme and colors indoors

My Japanese Maple is just gorgeous this year.  We planted it three years ago, and it was a twig tree, It really likes where it is

This arbor my husband gave me last year for my Birthday,  I planted some Yellow Jasmine vine and it is really taking off.  I will get a better shot later on in the Season.
I found these guys at an antique store a couple of years ago....all three for 5.00, then I found the mushroom to go with them.
If you ever need a cold beer out by the fire, here is an odd opener...hey it works it's whimsy and has four eyes

This arbor is planted behind the blue chairs near the outdoor fireplace.  I am not sure of the name of the vine, but right now it has pretty yellow flowers on it, this is also near my kitchen window so when I look out I can see it

I love my copper Torches too, it looks cool at night when we light them

Oh look more blue what a surprise

This bench was red and became faded so I just painted in black last year, I am thinking maybe yellow this year...what do you think?

Hope you enjoyed your outdoor transformation tour as much as I did presenting it to you........
Great shadow shot here, boy am I tired!~
