From very Drab to pretty good!

Last year as usual I took a trip to one of my favorite stores...Marshalls! I saw this cute wooden coffee sign for 12.99, and I had a coupon for 10.00 off, because I have a charge account with them, and I get rewards money. SO I basically paid 3.00 for it.  I thought what the heck it is wood and I like it.  Well for a year it has hung in the perfect spot, however, I have always found it to be so dark.  My husband likes the shape and size so I have left well enough alone with trying to replace it.  Today I had a brain storm......

I of course had all my supplies on hand.  I always have craft paint and sponges...just in case my boys have a school projects...or of course if I do!
You can see here how dark it is...pretty nice sign though.  Not sure why I still have the tag on it...I suppose it was a just in case I take it back, and of course never did!
Look you can even see the wood grain now.  First I painted it the canary yellow, let it dry, then I rubbed some glaze on it.  After that dried, I started sanding away.  Wiped it off, then took a knife and started to chip away a bit....
I love it lighter and brighter now.
Now it is in more keeping with this candy sign too

And I like the way it looks with my kitchen table.  This table was made in Columbia and we purchased it at a Specialty Spanish decor store in SOuth Florida.  We purchased the set with the chairs for $700.00, this set is my pride and joy, I love it, because we beat it up and it's OK!~
Now don't forget about my awesome giveaway going on for another entire week.

 HERE are the details
I am linking up this transformation to these parties.  Thanks for hosting gals!~ Also see my side bar for details on my new linky party starting every Saturday and running til Monday. join in on the fun!

Looks fantastic! Great job!

I am so excited to show you what I found Saturday at a trading post. You were actually my inspiration! The metal rack you painted yellow that you have cookbooks on...let's just say if I hadn't seen your post, I never would have considered buying what I bought. And this is in addition to the other stuff I emailed you about on Friday. Can't wait to participate in your weekend post.

Have a super day!!
